Sampath Bank will open seven branches in the North and East in the
near future to cater to the banking needs of the people in the newly
cleared areas.
AGM-HR Neil Bogahalande said that the new branches in Jaffna, Mannar,
Eravur, Omanthai, Chenkalady, Samanthurai and Kaththankudy will have
staff from the respective areas.
To facilitate the recruitment process and for the convenience of the
applicants all interviews will be held at these cities. Bogahalande
together with his team will visit Batticaloa and Kalmunai from January
27-29 to recruit experienced bankers as well as new entrants from the
area. They will also meet the Chief Minister of the Eastern province as
well as the Principal of St Michael’s College, Batticaloa to facilitate
the recruitment process.
The USAID is organising a career day on January 29 and our team from
Sampath Bank will also participate in it.
“ In their minds it is a great opportunity since bankers are held in
high esteem in North and East,” said Bogahalande. He said that Sampath
is the first bank to open branches in the newly cleared areas and in
addition to a business decision it is also a social responsibility.
At present Sampath Bank has 114 branches including Batticaloa,
Vavuniya, Kalmunai and Trincomalee.
