An office of the Governor of the Northern Province Sarath Chandra Dela has been set up in Vavuniya to launch development programs under directions from the Presidential Secretariat.

This office will focuses on restoration of normal life of the Tamil people of the North with the promotion of social, cultural and religious activities, development programs and resettlement of refugees from Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts, sources said.

A cultural centre constructed at a cost of Rs. 500 million at the Vavuniya Urban Council will be opened by Minister of Disaster Relief and Resettlement Rishard Buthiyutheen on February 07.

The ceremony will be attended by Governor Sarath Chandra Dela, parliamentarians representing the people of Vanni and senior government officials.
