Karuna calls Prabha paper Tiger
by Shanika SRIYANANDA
With the fall of the LTTE's strongholds of Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu,
the former LTTE military leader of the Eastern Province Vinayagamoorthi
Muralitharan also known as Karuna Amman called the LTTE leader
Prabhakaran, who is now believed to be moving with the civilians to save
his life, a `false hero' created by the LTTE and media. He said that
though Prabhakaran was considered as a hero he was not used to face
fierce battle fronts and for the last 23 years of the war this was the
first time that the artillery and mortars were falling in front of him.
"Life was very precious for him and he is so scared of death",
Muralitharan alias Karuna Amman, who was one of the most trustworthy
former bodyguards of Prabhakaran, said. "Local and foreign media and the
LTTE had blown up his image. He had the brains to organise the war, but
does not have first hand experience on retaliatory military offensives",
he said.
He said now the whole world had realised that the LTTE and its leader
were not so `capable in fighting with the Sri Lankan military'.
Now a UPFA Parliamentarian and the TMVP leader Muralitharan said that
the LTTE would be restricted to guerilla tactics but their future of
survival was uncertain as the LTTE lacks people's support.
"People of Jaffna and East are with the government and the northern
people will soon join us after the restoration of democracy there. The
military is not the same military like in the days when the LTTE was
born. So with lack of people's support and military capabilities the
LTTE will not raise its head in future", he said. Muralitharan said that
the LTTE's gun running activities too had become difficult as the Sri
Lanka Navy had tightened their security and surveillance now.
Having hopes that civilians trapped in Puthukudiruppu and Vishwamadu
will break the LTTE lines and cross to liberated areas soon, he said
Muralitharan said that LTTE attempts to infiltrate into the East as well
as the other major cities in the South will fail as the tight screening,
surveillance and good public vigilance have made it difficult for them
in taking their targets.
