Wins first place in Sinhala oratory

Mohomed Lafirkhan Mohomed Aaqib of Periyamulla, Negombo won the first place in the Senior Division of the oratorical contest in Sinhala, at the competition organised by the Department of Muslim and Cultural Affairs in connection with the Meelad-un-Nabi celebrations recently. He received the cash prize and the certificate from the chief guest, Cultural Affairs Minister Pandu Bandaranayake, at the function held recently in Colombo.Aaqib a Grade 13 student of Harischandra College in Negombo, is also a prefect.

He is the son of A. R. M. Lafeerkhan and Mrs. Noorul Mazahima of Periyamulla, Negombo.
