Shameera pilots Joes to an innings win over Thomians

CRICKET: Captain Shameera Weerasinghe produced a stellar all-round performance (106 & 13-55) as St. Joseph’s College, Colombo crushed S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia by an innings and 26 runs to regain the Gilmore Jayasuriya Trophy after a lapse of 11 years in their annual inter-school cricket encounter ended at Darley Road last evening.

Weerasinghe who had cracked a superb 106 to steer his team to a sound first-innings total of 248 all out, then turned on the magic with the ball, as the right-arm leg-spinner returned impressive figures of 6 for 28 to help bundle out the Thomians for a paltry first innings total of 105.
