Six Nations to test England

RUGBY: LONDON, Jan 31, 2009;- England can claim there was no great disgrace in being beaten by the Tri-Nations giants in November but a lacklustre Six Nations will fray the patience of their fans just that little bit further.

England haven’t won the tournament since 2003 - a damning indictment given the depth of their playing and financial resources - when a team captained by Johnson also went on to win the World Cup later that same year. The jury remains out on the decision by England chiefs to appoint as team manager last year someone in Johnson who, for all his inspirational qualities as a captain, had no coaching experience at all.
