Cuba, Russia Sign Strategic Association Memorandum

Russia's President Dmitri Medvedev and Cuba's Raul Castro signed on
Friday at the Kremlin a memorandum about the Strategic Collaboration
Principles between both countries.
Medvedev said the visit by the Cuban president was an important
milestone in the bilateral relations.
"Congratulations to our friends for the 50th anniversary of the
Revolution," he said, and expressed his best wishes to Commander Fidel
Castro.
We have signed 34 documents, he said, and highlighted that Cuba and
Russia have a great development potential, which will allow us making
progress to increase trade. He asserted that the task now is to boost
materialization of the agreements.The Cuban president asserted that he
shared Medvedev's statements. It is a historic landmark in an important
time in bilateral relations, he said.
With the ninth session of the Inter-Government Collaboration
Commission, we have moved forward, said Raul Castro, and highlighted
that it is Cuba's job to take the relevant steps for a strategic
association.
