Lanka Bell slashes IDD rates

Lanka Bell has slashed its IDD call rates to seven countries enabling subscribers to make overseas calls to India and six other countries for Rs. 7 per minute.

The new rate is also valid for Australia, Canada, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom and USA, giving Lanka Bell users the lowest price in the market to make IDD calls using the 'Dial 15' service on their Lanka Bell phones or by using VIZA IDD cards, the company announced this week.

The rate to India is valid to call fixed and mobile numbers while for the other countries it is only valid to call fixed lines, the company said. "With this new rate Lanka Bell becomes the Sri Lankan telecommunication company that offers the lowest call charges to India," said Lanka Bell Managing Director Prasad Samarasinghe. "This will allow our subscribers and the many thousands who use Lanka Bell Viza cards to enjoy the freedom of making calls and be in touch with their loved ones as much as they like," he said. He said the company had selected seven frequently called countries for these new rates and was confident that this would be welcomed by the business community in Sri Lanka as well.
