English Day of Christ Church, Matale

T he Annual English Day of Christ Church College, Matale was held at the Matale Town Hall recently. The event provided an opportunity for the students of the school to display their talents to the community.

The chief guest at the event was former Directress of English at the National Institute of Education, Vijitha Yatawatthe. The other guests were retired Director of Education - English, Matale, R.B. Ekanayake retired In-Service Advisor - English, Matale, M. Ranasinghe, former Principal of the College, D. Pandigama, former Lecturer, College of Education - Polgolla, U. Bandaranaike and Lecturer, Technical College - Matale, K. Basnayake. Students from neighbouring schools, past pupils, parents and well-wishers also participated.

The English Day was organised by the members of the school's English Unit, under the guidance and supervision of Principal, T.W. Mediwake and Deputy Principal - Development, Dulani Samarakoon. Sectional Head (English), G. Wijekoon delivered the welcome address while student Nipunika Karunarathne proposed the vote of thanks.
