Accounts to deposit three-wheeler subsidy

The petrol subsidy offered by the government to three-wheeler taxi
owners was implemented from last week said Director General, Samurdhi
Authority Bandula Thilakasiri. He said that the first recipients of the
petrol subsidy for three-wheelers were from Bingiriya Divisional
Secretary's Division.
He said that three-wheeler owners must handover their petrol subsidy
applications with the recommendations of their Grama Niladaris and the
Samurdhi Niladaris to the Samurdhi Manager at their Divisional
Secretariat.
He said that the beneficiaries have been advised to open a Samurdhi
bank account in their Samurdhi society.
An allowance not more than Rs. 1500 as subsidy for 75 litres of
Petrol will be deposited to the Samurdhi Accounts monthly by the
Samurdhi Authority, he said.
According to the Commissioner General of the Motor Traffic
Department, B. Wijeratna 376,000 three-wheelers with petrol engines were
registered as passenger taxi three-wheelers and goods transporting
three-wheelers in the country.
