Severe shortage of water

A severe shortage of water is experienced by the residents of
Deraniyagala town and the villages in the vicinity due to drought
continuing over two months.
The Deraniyagala Pradeshiya Sabha is supplying drinking water to the
people of the town.
Chairman, Pradeshiya Sabha, Champika Wijesinghe said a water supply
scheme costing 150 million rupees to the town was under construction. It
would be ready by the end of the year.
The Pradeshiya Sabha was supplying water to the schools in and around
the town with a student population of about 5,000 as the continuing
drought had affected the schools too, he said.
