APRC chief urges early consensus

All political parties must reach a consensus on the power devolution issue which was an obstacle for peace and development of the country during the last six decades, at this historic moment said, All Party Representative Committee Chairman and Science and Technology Minister Prof. Tissa Vitarana.

He said that the 13 political parties which are presently attending the APRC has reached the consensus on its final power devolution proposals. UNP-JVP-TNA which did not participate in the APRC at present will be invited again to assist the APRC's efforts to reach a lasting solution on this important national issue, he said.

APRC Chairman said APRC met regularly and the final report will be ready soon, political circles were hopeful that APRC's final report will be handed over to President Mahinda Rajapaksa before the end of this month.
