Balangoda accident or manslaughter

The driver of the lorry who ran over two after knocking down a three- wheeler taxi while injuring two others travelling in the vehicle at Pambahinna in the Balangoda area, will be charged for manslaughter, said OIC Balangoda, Chief Inspector Kapila Bandara when contacted by the Sunday Observer. Police said the accident had taken place around 8 p.m. last Tuesday. The lorry was hired by a private telecommunication company to erect telecom towers in the area. Police said the victims had a heated argument with the lorry driver, before the incident.

Police are investigating as to whether the lorry driver had deliberately ran over the two or whether it was a case of an accident. The lorry driver was produced in Court and remanded till investigations were complete, police said.
