PM in Thailand

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka left for Thailand on a four-day official visit this morning. During his visit he will meet the newly elected Prime Minister of Thailand Abhisit Vejjiva and participate in a number of events including the Thai International Buddhist Organisation Dhammakasa Foundation’s prize-giving ceremony for winners of a national oratorical contest.

Colombo Fashion Week

Colombo Fashion Week will go on from February 19 to 21 at the Taj Samudra where they will tie up with Dubai Fashion Week in a bid to make the fashion extravaganza bigger and better this time around.

The ‘HSBC CFW 2009’ will get 14 Sri Lankan designer and 7 international designers where a myriad of collections will be on display.

Salesian Vicar General on visit

Fr Adriano Bregolin, the Vicar of the Rector Major Fr Pascual Chavez Adriano the Vicar General arrived yesterday.

The Salesian community received him at the Katunayake Bandaranaike Airport and accompanied him to the Headquarters of the SDB at Dungalpitiya.

Today he will be felicitated at the Salesian House at Dalupotha, Negombo. Rev. Fr. Anthony H. Pinto SDB. Head of the Sri Lanka Province will accompany him to the SDB Houses in the country showing him the mission work the SDB is involved in for the benefit of the youth, the uneducated, poor and marginalised in society. Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr. Bregolin is the first collaborator of the Rector Major in the government of the Society and has ordinary vicarious power. Fr. Bregolin, an Italian national born on October 16,1948 took his first Oath as a member of the Salesian community on August 16, 1966 and was ordained a priest on May 27, in 1978.
