Golden Chimes back home

Back home after a successful tour in Calgary, Canada for more than one and a half months Lankika and the Golden Chimes are happy they are back to renew their friendship with their fans here in Sri Lanka.

The group's final concert was on January 17 at Mount Royal Lea Cock Theatre in Calgary. Coincidentally the date was their 39th anniversary in show business and accordingly before the concert commenced Chanaka and Lankika released thirty nine gold coloured balloons to commemorate the occasion.

"We were emotionally moved and we sang most of our popular original songs like Kimada Naave, Muhudu Rella, Kirimuhuda, Molaketi Puthuni, Dalada Perahera, Ma Adare Nangi. We also sang some English songs and ended our concert with a medley of our songs that was quite a long one but everybody enjoyed themselves singing and dancing with happiness.

What touched us more were the many cards we received from the audience thanking us for re-living the happy days they had in Sri Lanka and for our songs which they hadn't heard for a long, long time.

For musicians you know how soul satisfying that is "expressed Lankika who also told us that they will be commencing work on the new CD they will be releasing soon. Golden Chimes also wish to thank the Sri Lanka - Canada Association, the members of the committee and the sponsors for making this tour a reality.
