Kandy SC in 33-12 win over CR and FC

RUGBY: Defending champions Kandy Sports Club continued their winning
from where they left over last year by scoring an emphatic 33 points (4
goals, 1 try) to 12 (1 goal, 1 try) win over their arch rivals CR and FC
on the first day of the Inter-Club Rugby Sevens organised by Sri Lanka
Rugby Football Union which commenced at Nittawela yesterday. At half
time scores stood deadlocked at 7 all.
It was in the second half that the Kandy team cut loose to score 26
points against 5 by the Red Shirts.
Only nine teams took the field yesterday namely group 'A' Kandy SC,
Navy SC, CR and FC, Kurunegala RFC.
Group 'B': Air Force, Jawatte Lions, Old Zahirians SC, Petersons SC
and CH and FC.
The tournament started 15 minutes late and the last match of the day
between CR and FC and Kandy SC commenced at 6 p.m.
The results of other matches played yesterday Air Force beat Jawatte
Lions 28-0, Old Zahirians SC beat Petersons SC 22-5, Kandy SC beat Navy
47-14, CR and FC beat Kurunegala RFC 40-0, Pertersons SC beat Jawatte
Lions 31-12, Air Force beat Old Zahirians SC 46-0, Navy beat Old
Zahirians SC 43-7, CH and FC beat Jawatte Lions 54-0.
