IPM - great HR debate

Where words become weapons

To fill the long lost art of healthy debates and debating, the Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) Sri Lanka have as a CSR Project come up with a brilliant and innovative concept of initiating a series of debates dubbed 'The Great HR Debate', open to all educational institutes, key corporate entities, either in the state or private sector and all such establishments wherein practices of Human Resources are followed.

Dyan Seneviratne CEO/IPM

The IPM is the foremost HR House in the country and is steadfastly not only providing a myriad of study courses relevant for personnel management from school leavers but even to those employed and even graduates of other disciplines desirous of obtaining the equivalent of a Degree in HR. Indeed in current context the importance and sheer relevance of Human Resource management cannot ever be trivialised as training, managing, retaining and motivating human beings towards greater and more focused productivity hinges on effective 'HR' - the cliched phrase: 'People Drive Business' has now new-found significance!

In this backdrop the forthcoming event of `The Great HR Debate' would arouse the latent passion and drive of all those potentially keen and brilliant minds out there in Sri Lanka - so as the CEO of the IPM, Sri Lanka my personal appeal to all those brimming with ideas and who wish to carve out an outlet for your incisive arguments - now's the chance! Do please embrace this wonderful opportunity with both hands - remember that there's never a second chance to make that first impression! Eminent and well respected corporate chiefs and heads of academia have been duly selected as judges and moderators for all debating sessions, to ensure that all teams not only conform to the set rules and regulations but also guarantee transparency in selections.

Each of the topics would possess an underlying theme based on People Management and Human Resources. Some of the topics are easily digestible and appear simple in concept and may even be considered banal; some may evoke feelings of strong emotion based on your convictions, training and perhaps corporate culture - still nevertheless HR related.

So all of you possessing vibrant minds - young and not so young - age is no barrier, please join a team [each establishment could field one or more teams - please refer to the Set of Rules and Regulations that will be sent to each bona fide applicant] and fly your flag metaphorically speaking individually and collectively as a team - make those captivating, cogent arguments alive with unbridled passion. We want to hear you!

Care to dare? We are waiting to crown the winner!
