Epic knock of 270 by Angelo Mathews

CRICKET: The discarded Angelo Mathews took a crack at the national selectors by powering his way to a double century in Basnahira North's first innings score of 563. The hard hitting former St. Joseph's College batsman, who was overlooked after just one ODI match against India, reminded the selectors of his potential when he took his overnight score of 163 to 270. K. Silva contributed with 91. When Kandurata XI batted a second time were 80 for 2 at close.

Superb knock of 92 by Shalika

All rounder Shalika Karunanayake hit a fighting knock of 92 to help Wayamba Province snatch a close first innings lead over Basnahira South on the third day of their Sri Lanka Telecom inter provincial cricket tournament match continued at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium yesterday.
