Call for strict vigil to prevent LTTE intrusion

Expressing apprehension about possible intrusions by LTTE into Tamil Nadu in view of the crackdown against it in Sri Lanka, Congress members in the state assembly yesterday called for strict vigil to prevent any such bid.

Speaking in the assembly after the en masse eviction of Opposition members, Congress member R. M. Palanisamy said, "we fear there could be LTTE intrusions into the state.

Police should tighten vigil to prevent any such attempts."Another Congress member R. Ramprabu recalled the recent incidents in which bullet-ridden abandoned boats were found off Ramanathapuram coast, raising speculations that some LTTE cadre might have sneaked into the state.
