Joes and Visakha swimming champions

SWIMMING: The swimmers from St. Joseph’s College and Visakha
Vidyalaya won the Boys and Girls overall swimming titles respectively at
the Novices Aquatic Championships held at the Sugathadasa Stadium pool
yesterday.
Josephians took the top spot with 243.50 points in the Boys followed
by S. Thomas’ College placed second with 144 points, St. Peter’s College
third 82 points, D. S. Senanayake College 72 points in fourth position
and Thurstan College in fifth place 68 points.
In the girls section Visakha Vidyalaya collected 124 points to become
champions, Musaeus College second 117 points, Mahamaya College third 104
points, Hillwood College, Kandy fourth 103 points and Bishops College
fifth 84 points.
Royal - diving champions
In the novices diving championships Royal College divers won the
overall boys title collecting 123 points. St. Joseph’s College with 35
points finished second and St. Peter’s College third with 20 points.
Ladies College emerged overall girls diving champions with 93 points
while Bishops College became runner-up with 28 points.
Synchronized swimming
The novice synchronized swimming title went to Ladies College scoring
36 points and St. Bridget’s Convent second with 4 points.
Waterpolo
Royal College ‘A’ team trounced their `B’ to win the Novices
Waterpolo title after S. Thomas’ College waterpolo side withdrew after
facing the official draw.
Schools Novices Meet
Sri Lanka Schools Novices Swimming meet sanctioned by the Interim
Committee of Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union will be held on February 26,
27 and 28.
