Kaushal and Pushpakumara score centuries

Jayan Kaushal Silva and Muthumudalige Pushhpakumara scored centuries
in a Basnahira second innings score of 342 for 5 wickets against Ruhuna
at SSC ground yesterday.
Enjoying a first innings lead of 82 runs, having dismissed Ruhuna for
221, Basnahira took a commanding overall lead of 424 runs at the close
on the third day.
Basnahira North: 301 and 342 for 5 (J.K. Silva 112, M.Pushpakumara
103, G.I Daniel 48, S.H.T. Kandamby 32, C.K.B. Kulasekara 2 for 64, S.

Kandurata pulled off 10 wicket win over Basnahira South in their
Inter- Provincial tournament match concluded at Dambulla yesterday.
Basnahira, who followed on after making only 123 in their first
innings, managed to avoid an innings defeat scoring 267.

CROSS COUNTRYS: Akuramboda National School and Sri Rahula Katugastota
won the Lt. Gen. Nalin Angammana Memorial Trophy when they emerged Jt.
Champions at the Annual Cross Country Race organised by the Dharmaraja
College, Kandy for the 56th year.

This race was held on 19th February and the awards and certificates
were presented by the Principal Dharmaraja College S.M. Keerthiratne.
Netball pool to be reduced to 15 in April
NETBALL: After two months of training, the national netball pool has
been reduced to 21 from 28. The netballers are to represent Sri Lanka at
the Asian Netball Championships to be held in June in Malaysia according
to an senior official of the Interim Committee of the Netball Federation
of Sri Lanka.
After a series of trial games, training and regular practises, the
final 15 players will be named by end of April. The 15 netballers will
go into residential coaching camp from then onwards under the National
Netball coach Thilaka Jinadasa.
Eight countries will play in the Asian Netball Championships, the
defending champions Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand, Pakistan,
India, Maldives, Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka national netball poolists are Shashika Samarasinghe,
Gayathri Lankathilaka, Sanduni Bollegala, Chamila Jayawardena, Precila
Koch, Tharjani Sivalingam, Sanjeevani Madushika, Hansi Bandara, Mirisha

Rizny wins Road Race

ROAD RACE: M. R. M. Rizny of Rambukewela, Ambatenna won the annual
Road Race organised by Greenwood College, Ambatenna.
There were around 40 runners who participated in the race and all
were under 18 years of age. While Rizny came first, N. A. M. Sarfras
from Akurana came second and H. R. M. Pawaz also from Akurana came
third.
OMV Sports Club in strong position

CRICKET: Old Moratu Vidyalians Sports Club is in a strong position
against Rajarata Sports Club in their Inter-Club Division Two Cricket
Tournament match conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket and played at Moratuwa.
OMVSC piled up 341 runs in their first essay and at the end of day
one Visitors were 53 for 2. For the Homestars Chatura Hemakumara scored
a fine century and half centuries from Chaminda Niroshan 68 and Akila
Bandara 65. Most successful bowler for the Visitors is M. Herath who
took 3 for 88.
