Pranama and Dharshana steal the limelight

Set to make 203 runs in 32 overs, Isipathana were 121 for 4 at close in their 46th annual cricket encounter against Thurstan which ended in a draw at the SSC grounds yesterday.

Isipathana who were 149 for 4 overnight was aided by a fine 108 by Pranama Sri Vimukthi who provided the backbone of the Pathana Innings. He faced 173 deliveries and had 11 boundaries in his Innings. Isipathana declared their Innings at lunch with the score reading 240 for 9. R. Wijeratne took 4 for 37 for Thurstan.

Thurstan in their second Innings were badly placed at 36 for 3 at one stage, but Nuwan Dharshana stabilised the Innings with a stylish 95 with 13 fours after facing 88 deliveries. Dinusha Fernando and Anushka Samaratunga did the bulk of the bowling for Isipathana sharing three and four wickets. Dharshana who came in at 36 for 5 in the 8th over took the score to 176 in the 35 over and shared a useful 6th wicket alliance of 107 runs off 121 balls with Prabodha Arathavidu (48) prior to the declaration.
