Joes and Mahamaya swimming champions

SWIMMING: St. Joseph's College and Mahamaya College, Kandy swimmers
emerge overall boys and girls champions respectively at the Novices
Swimming Championship organised by Sri Lanka School Aquatic Sports
Association held at the Sugathadasa Stadium Pool, yesterday.
Josephian swimmers last week boys overall winners at the SLASU
Novices Aquatic Championship gave yet another time performances to win
the title yesterday collecting 192 points, S. Thomas' College finished
runners-up with 104 points and St. Peter's College third with 57 points.
In the girls overall Mahamaya College took the top spot with 50
points while Viharamaha Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Kelaniya placed second
with 41 points and Musaeus College third with 28 points.
The respective age group winners were as follows:
Boys: Under-9: Rasitha Perera (St. Peter's College), Under-11 -
Eresha Perera (Lyceum IS, Nugegoda), Under-13 - I.F.A.Z. Fahim
(Elizabeth Moir School), Under-15 - N.S. De Silva (St. Sylvester's
College, Kandy), Under-17 - Shehan Lee (St. Joseph's College), Under-19
- D. Lakruwan Wijesiri (Sri Wimalabuddhi Vidyalaya, Seenigama).
Girls: Under-9 - Niresha Weerarathne (Mahamaya College), Under-11 -
Lavangi Ranatunga (Musaeus College), Under-13 - Galome Fernando (Asian
International School, Under-15 - Sanduni Dissanayake (Mahamaya College),
Under-17 - Nayanthara Madushani (Samudra Devi Balika Vidyalaya),
Under-19 - Navanjana Fernando (Sri Sumangala Balika Vidyalaya).
Relay Carnival
Relay Carnival, the first major swimming meet conducted by the
Interim Committee of Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union will be held on
Saturday, March 7 at the Sugathadasa Stadium Pool starting from 8.00
a.m.
All leading swimmers from schools, clubs, Police, Army, Navy and Air
Force will participate at the meet.
