China publishes report on Human Rights in the USA
Beijing, (Prensa Latina)
The Chinese State Council Information Office published on Friday, for
the 10th consecutive year, a report about the human rights violations in
the United States.
A prologue to the document said that Washington criticizes others and
remains silent about its own problems, something that proves the US
double standard and hypocrisy about the human rights issue.
The report is the answer of the Asian nation to the attacks by the US
State Department, in its habitual annual report against the humanitarian
situation in China.
Entitled the United States, Put Your Own House in Order, the document
covers three full pages of the Chinese dailies.
As in previous years, the report that covers the 2008 period
denounced the cases of glaring racism, police abuses, denial of the
minorities' cultural rights, and the tortures practiced on prisoners at
the Guantanamo naval base penitentiary.
Fopreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu urged on Thursday the US
government to examine its own problems with human rights and not to use
that issue as an excuse to interfere in the internal affairs of other
countries.
In the last 30 years, China has constantly developed its economy,
religious freedom has been protected, and all the ethnic groups enjoy
more freedom and rights, the official said.
He also said his country is willing to hold talks and exchange with
all countries about the human rights issues, based on equality and
mutual respect.
The report by the US State Department that attacks China was
published just three days after US State Secretary Hillary Clinton
concluded an official visit to Beijing.
