Crown sniffer dogs to intensify public security

“Today sophisticated and technically advanced electronic devices are used by security firms to detect threats from explosives. However, research has discovered that a dog’s nose is sharper in sensing explosives than any man-made device” said Lt. Commander Ajit Kangaraarachchi, (Retd.) Managing Director, of Crown Security Services.

He was addressing the launching of the pilot project, Crown Sniffer Dogs, the newest addition to Sri Lanka’s private sector security services, in Colombo.

The security forces and police were the only institutions that trained and used the services of sniffer dogs for public security especially in identifying threats and suspects. This new initiative by Crown Security Services is one of the 760 registered security services in Sri Lanka.
