Thomian and Mahamaya swimmers steal the limelight

SWIMMING: The swimmers from S. Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia and Mahamaya College, Kandy put up a remarkable performances to become boys and girls overall champions respectively at the Age Group Relay Championships conduced by the Interim Committee of Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union held at the Sugathadasa Stadium Pool, yesterday.

Thomian collected 154 points to take the boys title while last year's champions St. Joseph's College finished second with 124 points and Ananda College third with 107 points.

In the girls Kandy Swimmers, Mahamaya College gave yet another worthy feat to retain the overall title with 175 points followed by Musaeus College in second position with 100 points and Asian International School placed with 85 points.

According to SLASU senior official, the Synchronised Swimming Levels Competition and mandatory selections trial for Japan Open Synchronised Swimming Championships will be held on Sunday, March 15 at the Sugathadasa Stadium Swimming pool.

Two Synchronised swimmers will be selected to represents Sri Lanka at the Japan Open Championship to be held from May 2 to 5, 2009.
