BIT Tourism Fair in Italy, a resounding success
The Italian city of Milan was a hive of activity as the B.I.T. Fair
came alive from February 19 to 22. This annual Italian Travel and
Tourism Fair is the largest exhibition in the world for Italian tourist
products and a thorough show of the best the international market has to
offer. B.I.T. stands for "Borsa Internazionale del Turismo"
("International Tourism Exchange") and is the reference point for all
Tourism System Leaders, with the activities spread out on four days,
with each one devoted to a particular target. This year's show took
place at the new fair grounds in Rho located in the North-West of Milan
with 5,000 companies from 140 participating countries sharing the space.
While it brought together all destinations including Europe, Africa,
Asia, the Americas, and Australia, 15% increase in the participation of
the general public could be seen in comparison with last year.
A special Media Conference was convened with the distinguished
participation of Hemantha Warnakulasuriya, Ambassador of Sri Lanka in
Rome, to announce the way forward for Sri Lanka Tourism, on the first
day of the fair.
