Solving youth problems

The National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) has launched a program to minimize the number of suicides, attempted suicides, drug related issues and trauma among youth.

NCPA, chairman Dr. Jagath Wellawatta said aim of the program is to advise children in collaboration with the Ministry of Healthcare and Nutrition. The community psychiatric unit of the ministry handles the project, he said.

In a bid to expand the scope of this plan, all child protection units at school level would be absorbed into the scheme, he said.
