For
Prashadi Dilrukshi Ranasinghe, dance has become the song of the body.
She posseses an innate talent for dancing. She started her own dance
academy `Prashadi Dance Academy' in Maharagama in 2005. Her creativity
mingled with her perseverance took her thus far her career. She was
introduced to the art of dancing through Kandyan, moving on to Sri
Lankan style, she mastered Arabic-Belly dancing while also being skilled
in Latin-American as well as Freestyle. Thus, her dance troupe was well
received by all audiences on occasions such as Derana Music Awards, Edna
Chocolate launch ceremony and more many more.
 Having
started dancing under Kulasiri Budawatta's supervision in 1999 she
seasoned herself to many traditions of dance. She was engrossed in the
Kandian dancing style of Budawatta, and followed in his footsteps.
She had been teaching at Budawatta's Dance Academy for a while and
then started her own academy in Maharagama. Prashadi made it her
personal duty to present a well groomed generation of dancers to Sri
Lanka. In her dance academy she accommodates over hundred amateurs.
She recalled her past as an opportunity she received to develop her
innate creativity. She gradually started to take part in events to those
she was invited one after the other from September 2006. She had
performed at Bandu Live in concert in Australia as well.
Noteworthy, her talent is not limited to dancing but many areas such
as acting, playing the organ and sports. Recently, she had been playing
a main role in 'Athma Senehasa'. Another teledrama, `Himikari' will be
telecast in the near future in which she had done a marvelous job.
Other than sewing the costumes she herself designs and selects
material. She also acts as a make-up artist to her troupe, an art which
she had mastered from childhood. It is said that the make-up is in
successful in its presentation if it is well received by the audience at
the rear row of the theatre.
 The
dresses she makes - which are self financed - are a deviation from the
traditional dress codes, incorporated with modernity.
Prashadi, once received appraisal from a prolific designer, Senaka De
Silva at her maiden performance for Fitness Kingdom's annual launch.
Her mother, Wimala Ranasinghe had been the shadow of her success, and
therefore, sacrificed all her time for helping her daughter's endeavour.
Ranjith Ranasinghe, her father, has always made his fullest contribution
to his daughter's needs.
Prashadi would willingly confront challenges in life, enabling her to
become an experienced artiste. When she was asked about her future plans
regarding her dance academy she informed that she had already scheduled
to organize a concert at the end of 2009. Her artistic career is sure to
be crammed with foreign tours and many more events.
