Gold and a record...

That’s the achievement of 14-year-old Yohan Silva of Leeds International School, Panadura at the recent Inter-International Schools Athletic Meet held in February at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

Silva’s effort came in the under 15 long jump event where he leapt to a new distance of 5.57 metres which improved on the eight-year-old record.


Champion swimmer in the making...

Thilan Walallawita of Leeds International School, Panadura. He came first in the 50 metres Breast Stroke, 2nd in the 100 metres Freestyle and 3rd in the 50 metres Freestyle at the Inter-International School Swimming Meet held at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool-that was on February 13 and 14.

Then a week later, Thilan was the winner again at the Novices Swimming Championships where he won GOLD in 50 metres Freestyle and 50 metres Breast Stroke at the same venue. Then a week later - that’s February 27 and 28, he came third in the 50 metres Freestyle and 50 metres Breast Stroke in the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Meet.
