The Army Commander Lieutenant General, Sarath Fonseka visited the Vanni Security Forces Headquarters in Vavuniya to discuss the security situation. Vanni Security Forces Commander Major General Jagath Jayasuriya received the Army Commander on his arrival. All the Division Commanders in the area participated at the discussion.

LTTE top brass :

No surrender to third party - Defence Secretary

Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa stressed that the Government cannot let the LTTE to surrender to a third party and emphasised that LTTE should be made to surrender only to the Government of Sri Lanka.

Tiger sports chief shot dead

Velalagan alias Papa, who was a senior cadre who was in-charge of LTTE’s sports activities at Kilinochchi, when the outfit was active in the region was shot dead by fellow cadres while attempting to escape with the members of his family in a boat a few days ago from Puthumathalan, informed sources said.
