How modern technology affects people

Modern technology is a topic discussed by most people in the world today. Due to modern technology, the entire world has become a global village. People in the world have got closer as a result of technology. We can see its impact in almost all the fields, especially in communication, information technology, and transport. Today we need not travel far spending our valuable time and money to do many things. We can get most of our work done in a very short period of time by using modern communication modes and through the Internet. The computers have virtually become an indispensable object to most people. Its uses are unlimited. Like mobile phones or land phones, a majority of people have a computer at home or have access to one in their workplaces and enjoy the benefits it offers.I believe that modern technology has affected some countries in a bad way because, due to it many destructive weapons such as bombs have been manufactured. Bombs are used against human beings and many are seriously wounded and even die because of them. It is one of the adverse effects of modern technology. Some countries have even declared war due to this. In most parts of the world however, modern technology has been used for the benefit of mankind creating spacecraft to explore space and discover more details about it, invent new machinery and equipment, find new medicines and so on. In the future, we won't be able to do anything without resorting to modern technology. It is something that's developing, everyday.

The person I love most

My mother is the person I love most. Her name is Indrani Perera. She is like a god to me. She always cooks tasty food to make me happy. I mostly like to eat the puddings she makes.

She shares my sadness as well as my happiness and is always with me. When I am sick she always takes care of me and protects me. She loves me very much. She is a very good teacher, a good doctor and a good mother to me. She teaches me good habits, the importance of respecting elders and also advises me to learn things the right way. I could never find a mother like her. I wish her the best of everything. I love her very much. May god bless her.

A wonderful morning

Sun is rising,

Through the mountains,

Flowers are blooming,

In the morning.

Birds are singing songs,

On the branches of trees,

Honey birds are sucking,

Nectar from flowers.

Some birds are flying,

In the far sky,

Trees are fluttering,

For the blowing wind,

I get pleasure,

By seeing these scenery,

Morning gives happiness,

To all in the world.

Serenity

The

dull

brown

clusters of sand,

linger between my toes

As I walk in through a narrow

path to a temple, sacred and old

A

great

white

sthupa stands tall,

With a gem centered on top

shining in glory with the bright

sunsrays, unveiling the relic it holds.

The

sound

of the

rustling leaves I hear

as the wind meets the bo tree,

worshipped by many with honour

it stands,sheltering masses.

In

another

corner, a

sculpture I see,

of a human pleasant and calm,

Seated with eyes not opened

wide, but an expression of kindness,

I

walked

back in ease

worshiping all these,

from the temple I visited that day.

For my mind is charmed, with the noble

Dharma, the Buddha preached one day.

Personal hygiene is a must

It is important to keep in mind that you owe it to yourself to be healthy and strong. Diseases originate and grow in dirt and unhygienic conditions. There is a popular saying that 'Prevention is better than cure'. And the way to prevent diseases is by paying attention initially to personal hygiene or cleanliness.

One of the important areas of personal hygiene is taking good care of our teeth. It is with a very good reason that our elders not only brush their teeth, but also rinse their mouth as often as possible. Bleeding and spongy gums and decayed teeth cause diseases.

Gargle as often as possible and clean your teeth thoroughly first thing in the morning and the last thing at night. Charcoal powder is an excellent tooth cleansing powder. You need not go in for toothpastes and brushers if you cannot afford them.

Daily baths are another important thing when it comes to personal hygiene.

A bath is intended to invigorate you. It will not serve the purpose if you simply pour water (hot or cold) over you, without giving a thorough rub to your skin with a towel or at least with the palm of your hand.

A bath twice a day in a hot climate is necessary. Wash your hands prior to eating and keep your bowels also clean and healthy, as most diseases are caused by disorders in the stomach.

Personal hygiene is very important to stay healthy and also move about in society. People do not like unclean, smelly people. It is said that `Cleanliness is next to godliness."

My home

My home is beautiful and neat. It's a moderate house with all facilities. It's also situated in a calm, quiet environment. There is a beautiful garden around my home. There are many windows in the house and so there is enough ventilation and light.

We have not painted our house recently and therefore one can see all the scribbling and drawings done on the wall by my brother and me when we were younger. I'm very free in my home and the place makes me very happy. It's said that "happiness is a golden key that fits all homes." I like this saying very much and believe it's true.
