Fish prices decrease

Fish prices of most varieties had declined in the range of Rs. 4 per kg to Rs. 44 last month, according to the recent Food Commodities bulletin issued by Hector Kobbekaduwa Agrarian Research and Training Institute.

The reason for the price decrease was the high supply of fish to the market. The highest price decrease was for Balaya.

The prices of Kelawalla, Thora, and Mora have increased by less than Rs. 10 per kg. The HARTI food commodities bulletin stated that compared to the corresponding period of last year the prices of all varieties except for salaya, hurulla, and thora had decreased in the range of 2 percent to 10 percent prices of salaya, hurulla, and thora had increased by 1 per cent, 4 percent and 2 per cent, the bulletin said.
