SLT and Singer sign historic agreement

Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC. one of the largest, diversified companies with an unmatched presence throughout Sri Lanka continues to place its trust in Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), the nation's number one integrated communications services provider to further expand its data network and seamlessly interconnect Singer Offices, Retail Outlets, Mega Shops and Service Centers located across the country.

This communication solution will facilitate connectivity to rural areas through SLT's vast broadband network that will connect over 360 branches countrywide. SLT's IP-VPN Network will provide seamless connectivity islandwide through its nation-wide broadband network using an array of mediums such as copper, fiber and microwaves.

SLT owns and maintains the largest data network in the country and marks the further strengthening of a long standing business partnership between the two companies.

SLT also tied up with Singer Sri Lanka to expand its sales distribution channel for SLT Citylink CDMA phones and pre-paid products.

SLT's pre-paid products that include SLT Passport Domestic and International Calling Cards powered by SLT's superior technology and SLTnet Internet Pre-paid Cards.

Thus, SLT will be able to offer SLT Citylink CDMA phones and pre-paid products to its customers via 480 branches islandwide, along with franchising units for Singer Sri Lanka, in addition to SLT Teleshops, SLT Regional Offices, Authorized Dealers and Super Market Chains islandwide.

Customers who are visiting Singer outlets will be able to buy SLT Citylink CDMA phones on easy payment terms.

The business partnership between SLT and Singer Sri Lanka will provide convenience to customers as a result of the expansion of sales outlets through its authorized dealer network countrywide as well as having all communication products and household goods available under one roof. Thus SLT will be in a strategic position to improve the presence of SLT Citylink Phones and Pre-paid Cards islandwide and be an additional source of revenue to Singer.

Through this agreement, SLT aims to sell 3000 Citylink phones and 2 million worth of Pre-paid Cards per month.

With this initiative SLT offers its valuable customers Bill Payments facility at all Singer outlets islandwide. This will be a value addition to SLT customers by providing convenient access to around 300 telephone bill payment centers.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mrs. Leisha De Silva Chandrasena, Chairperson, SLT said, "These agreements are symbolic of the continuous trust that has evolved between the two institutions over the years. Singer Sri Lanka is renowned for being one of the largest, diversified companies as well as a reputed household name, with an unmatched presence throughout the island. Mr. Hemaka Amarasuriya, Chairman, Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC, speaking at the occasion and elaborating on the significance of the agreement said that "the joining together of two of Sri Lanka's most powerful brands signifies the further strengthening of bonds between the two companies. We are proud to have SLT as our strategic partner, in terms of strengthening the distribution of services of its Citylink phones and Pre-paid Cards through our branch network. We also appreciate the support extended to us by SLT for the further expansion of our data network.
