Flagship Sports centre by adidas

Adidas, a world leader in branded sportswear opened its flagship Sports Performance Centre in Colombo recently.

The two storey adidas store which is located at no. 78, Havelock Road has the latest adidas products from footwear to accessories and clothing on offer. The highlight of the Sports Performance Centre is its ability to meet the needs of individual as well as the professional athlete with equal precision and care.

adidas follows three guiding principles when developing its merchandise; to produce the best shoe for the requirement of the sport, to protect the athlete from injury and to make the product durable.

This approach has been a long standing need in the local market and this entry by adidas seems a timely one for those looking to enhance their levels of performance in sports. From running to tennis, gents to ladies, the store possesses every conceivable requirement.

The first floor will offer the range for rugby, tennis, basketball and training, while the ground floor will offer the range for running, training, ladies tennis and ladies training.

Thilanga Sumathipala, Managing Director, Sumathi Group, Yankale Yablonsky, Manager New Channel Development, adidas, Fouzul Hameed, Managing Director, Hameedias and Dr. Seevali Jayawickrama, Physician for Sports Medicine were present at the launch.

In his keynote address, Yankale Yablonsky said "This new adidas Sport Performance Centre will offer innovative products from all adidas sports categories, taking our consumers in Sri Lanka to a higher level of adidas retail experience". He further explained the processes followed by the adidas research and developments teams as well as the designers in producing sophisticated footwear for both men and women that enhance the performance as well as protect them from injury. Dr. Seevali Jayawickrama also spoke on the risk of using fakes or low quality shoes that could result in long term injury.
