MBSL Savings Bank attracts over Rs 100 m new deposits

MBSL Savings Bank Ltd has achieved steady progress and has built confidence among customers within a short period, said Chairman MBSL Savings Bank, Janaka Ratnayake. He said there had not been a single premature withdrawal of deposits and customers have placed trust in the bank which is managed by Bank of Ceylon the country’s pioneer state bank.

MBSL Savings Bank earlier known as Ceylinco Savings Bank commenced operations under the MBSL Group following the appointment by the Central Bank with the emergence of the Golden Key Credit Card Company crisis.

The Golden Key Credit Card Company crisis began in the latter part of 2008 subsequent to the Sakvithi scam that triggered instability in the financial institutions.

The bank has attracted over 100 million new deposits and have restored stability within two weeks and it is confident of achieving higher profits and being a leading private bank in the country, Ratnayake said.Depositors have started dealing with the bank and confidence has been restored with normal activities of the bank continuing. The bank is poised to record steady growth and win trust as a customer friendly bank, he said.

Ratnayake said the Central Banks intervention to appoint MBSL to manage F&G Group, The Finance and Ceylinco Savings Bank was a timely move to rescue depositors. Today the financial and the banking sector stability has been restored.MBSL was entrusted to mange Sri Lanka’s pioneer finace company The Finance which is now making steady progress with over 20 million new deposits the Chairman said.

MBSL Savings Bank has started a new era and with the commitment of the staff and the trust of cutomers the bank will record greater progress, Ratnayake said.

CEO, MBSL Savings Bank, Sujan Ratnayake said the customers extended their fullest support during the crisis time and now they will reap the benefits under the new management .MBSL Savings Bank will be committed to provide customer excellent service with innovative products the CEO said.
