Maersk Line gets 3 'bests'
Judges at this year's Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards honoured
Maersk Line with all of three awards - "Best Global Shipping Line",
"Best Shipping Line - Asia-Europe" and "Best Green Service Provider -
Shipping Line".
The annual AFSCA awards are sponsored by Cargonews Asia, a cargo
freight and logistics trade newspaper based in Hong Kong.
Factors the judges looked at included reliability, service delivery,
service network and commitment to corporate social responsibility, but
the judges also recognised Maersk Line's significant contribution to
maritime industry development in Asia. Continuing a tradition of
leadership 2009 was the 16th consecutive year in which Maersk Line took
home the award for "Best Global Shipping Line" - and the 22nd year in a
row the company was named "Best Shipping Line - Asia-Europe".
Receiving these awards once again reflects years of dedication to
providing unrivalled service in Asia and to serving as a benchmark for
shipping industry excellence.
Green initiatives yielding benefits Maersk Line was also very pleased
to receive this year's award for "Best Green Service Provider - Shipping
Line". 2009 marked the first time Maersk Line has been recognised by the
AFSCA for its work on environmental issues and "green shipping", and the
company sees the award as further confirmation that its investment in
green initiatives is yielding benefits.
Tim Smith, Chief Executive North Asia Region, states, "This award is
a solid reflection of the overall good impression Maersk Line has on
environmental issues." Three 'bests' in one night - Maersk Line's haul
also included recognition for its Green efforts
