Kandy Perahera on July 22

The Kandy Esala Perahera will commence on July 22 and the last Randoli Perahera will be on August 5 and the `Diyakepime Mangallaya' will be held at Gatambe, Mahaweli River on August 6, said the Administrative Secretary of the Sri Dalada Maligawa, Walwin Lokuge.Four Devala Peraheras will be held from July 22 to 26. The Kumbal Perahera will be held from July 27 to 31 and the Randoli Perahera will start on August 1 and final night Perahera will be on August 5.The Diyawadana Nilame Nilanga Dela has already instructed officials to provide all the facilities for the devotees during the Esala Perahera season.

A large number of pilgrims and sightseers are expected in Kandy during the Perahera as the threat of terrorism is now over, but security arrangements will be in place this year too, official sources said.
