An accappella Sinhala single

For the first time a Sinhala acceppella single has been released by Michelle Perera who has burst into the music scene.

“The single is Me Mal Mawatha which is all about my school days and it was my Dad who spurred me into recording the song. I was flying for three airlines Sri Lankan, Ethihad and Qatar but since music is my passion I decided to do a definite turn around and my single is the start of my music career” says Michelle flashing that attractive smile of hers.

Michelle hails from a musical family. Her Dad is none other than the recognised multi-instrumentalist Melantha Perera of Mirage fame. Her brother is Dave - a guitarist/vocalist and Michelle intends joining his band Battery and making music. That’s good, Sri Lanka’s music scene needs more new faces to perk it up from its slumbers.

She says that her Dad has instilled in them to be creative and individual and not copy others and we are confident that Michelle with his and her mother Devika’s support will go places.

A multi instrumentalist Michelle who plays guitar, keyboards and drums enjoys karate, swimming and modelling. What’s more she loves dogs.

She’s got four dogs at home and says “someday I want to open up an orphanage for stray dogs because I believe that they too have a right to live happily, peacefully and be loved”. But before all that happens here’s wishing Michelle success in her new found career.

The piece - de - resistance will be a special dedication to our War Heroes, the valiant Armed Forces of Sri Lanka as the three choirs join to present a tri-lingual performance symbolising a united Mother Lanka.
