Suntel launches internet data centre

A fore-runner in the field of telecommunications in Sri Lanka, Suntel, launched its new Internet Data Centre, in Malabe, to feed the growing need of data security, of existing and emerging high-end customers.

Suntel defined the value added services it provides with this expansion in to communications-related unique activity, at a launch ceremony at Water's Edge, recently.

Secure data storage

This facility will provide secure storage to valuable corporate data which would be safer in a specialised security zone custom-built for the purpose.

This entity offers individual space zones to corporates to store their valuable data, providing total security 24 x 7 and also provide a dual storage option as a back-up facility.

Their services also cover designing business continuity planning, which is valid and crucial at a time of a financial crisis that plagues business today, locally and globally.

It is noteworthy therefore to have a leader in the industry, taking the initiative to set guidelines in financial planning and offer qualified management planning to ensure the continuity of a business entity.

The Suntel Board Directors hold a wealth of information, exposure and experience in the field of telecommunications having invested with Europe and Africa, at a previous opportunity.

Their knowledge management, knowledge transfer and data management ability poses an invaluable asset to Suntel, it was noted.

Dynamism

Today Sri Lanka is experiencing dynamic change through rapid development in the telecommunications and technology arena.

Global economists position Sri Lanka as South Asia's most active entity against the mature technology & telecommunications markets of Singapore and Malaysia. With peace restored in the island, the possibilities are immeasurable, it was identified.

The world sees Sri Lanka as the preferred choice for investment against neighbouring nations. In this context Suntel envisages great potential for diversifying in to data security and this venture in Malabe is an expansion and the 2nd IDC owned and managed by Suntel.

Data security

Corporate data and information is of significant value to any business success and need to be under tight security at all times The information may contain customer base, products and services, proposals for future expansion, production plans and designs, historical data that add value to the corporate entity, supplier chain and network, future forecasts, financial plans, budgets, product launch date plans, and relevant input that is wealth in the wrong hands of a competitor, it was emphasized. Living in a knowledge and information age where digitalization is the dominant force, it has become increasingly evident that data security and back up is a must in a vertical business environment.

The lifespan, sustenance, continuity and balanced flow of any corporate or state organisation depends on the security of its information and data. It has become an impossible to keep watch over data and secure it on a permanent basis under the control of company management.

Personalised solutions

In an environment where entire company operations from day to day depend on corporate information and data, it is vital that the company does not come to a standstill in the event of data unavailability or system impairment.
