‘Best Behaved Team’ - CEO of Mobitel agrees with Madugalle

CEO of Mobitel Suren Amarasekera speaks......

OBSERVER-MOBITEL: I am totally in agreement in having an extra award at the Observer Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest, that’s the award for the `Best Behaved Team’. This was suggested by Ranjan Madugalle, the winner of the inaugural contest who was the chief guest at the 30th Mobitel-Observer Schoolboy Cricketer of the year Awards Ceremony held at the BMICH said Suren Amarasekera, Chief Executive Officer, Mobitel.

Madugalle needs no introduction to cricket. He is the present Chief ICC Match Referee. He won the prestigious contest twice in 1978 and 1979. He captained Royal College and Sri Lanka. Suren Amarasekera said that the show, being a essentially a show for school cricket, he would like to make a suggestion to the heads of schools and the cricket authorities to have an award for the `Best Behaved Team’. This award will be able to inculcate a habit among schoolboys to play the game within the laws.Mobitel, the national mobile service provider, is proud to be the main sponsor of the 31st Observer Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year Contest. It is indeed a great pleasure for Mobitel to partner ANCL-Sunday Observer to support the prestigious contest which recognises the talents of the young cricketers in the country. The partnership between Mobitel and ANCL-Sunday Observer in taking cricket to the schools in underdevelop areas and making the game popular is helping the boys to improve their game.

Ultimately, Sri Lanka will gain from process and there will be quality cricketers emerging. Amarasekera said their aim is to care, share and deliver. Mobitel has taken the lead and schoolboys will greatly benefit.

For many years Mobitel has been a passionate and enthusiastic supporter of the activities of Sri Lanka cricket and other sports. We believe that it provides an invaluable service to strengthen the cricketing might of the country, we will do everything possible to help the schoolboys in their endeavours. Mobitel is driven to empower sports and lead the nation through the strengthening and development of relationships through sorts and uplifting the local talent. Hence, it is with pride that we extend our support for Observer Schoolboy Cricketer of the Tear Contest, the CEO of Mobitel said.
