Husbands may witness birth of their children

Nawaloka Hospital disclosed that arrangements will be made for
husbands to witness the birth of their children in the privacy at a
delivery room in future. "No other hospital in Colombo has guaranteed a
private labour room and sometimes this may not be possible." However

be with their wives during child birth," the spokesman said.
Director/General Manager of the Nawaloka Hospital, Professor Lal
Chandrasena said the Navaloka private hospital which started operations
in 1985 was awarded the National Quality Award and the ISO 9001
certificate. "We have set the standard for others to follow," the
Professor said at a media briefing last week.
He said the hospital that commenced operations with 100 beds in a
floor area of 75,000 sq. ft. expanded in 1994 to have 300 beds.
"This is the single largest private hospital complex in the country
with a floor area of 300,000 sq. ft. with 400 beds.
The seventh floor of the hospital comprises villas, suites and luxury
rooms. The total cost involved in the apartment project was a staggering
Rs. 1.5 billion."
He said the Navaloka hospital launched a corporate program recently
with a corporate giant involved in milk production to improve the bone
health of persons.
"We are looking not only at curative aspect but at preventive aspect
of diseases as well. Early detection of diseases is our priority," he
said.
The Deputy Chairman Nawaloka Hospital, Jayantha Dharmadasa said they
were proud to announce that Nawaloka Hospital has been rated as the most
valued brand in health care sector by the LMD's top hundred companies.
