A 23-year-old boy was going around looking for a job from house to house. By the end of the day he becomes frustrated being unable to find a job. While walking along a lonely road he sees 15 year old Piyumi Madhuwika walking alone.

The evil within him releases his stress by the easiest way possible. Little Piyumi didn't know what was going to happen to her life. She would not have known what this young man's mind was. Even he would not have known what he would do.

The devil in this man drags Piyumi to the jungle. And that was the end of Piyumi. A mother loses her loving daughter. A brother loses a twin sister. Friends lose a good friend.

We should be aware not to allow "Stress" to overrule us? Should we allow it to destroy us? Did Piyumi's murderer have at least a little knowledge of what he was doing or was he able to control his evil emotions? Whenever we feel insulted, disrespected, undervalued or easily hurt we lose our inner strength.

Then hopelesness and frustration takes place in the form of violence. Stress is a powerful force which can either do a lot of good or cause extensive damage depending on how it is controlled. It is like a flowing river. Stress is also a mismatch between demands and the resources available to meet such demands.

The tired mind always finds happiness through the easiest way possible. When we cannot arrive at a balance between demands and resources, our bodies react with the "fright, fight or flight" responses. When demands remain unfulfilled, the result is unproductive tension. Still all that is merely mental. It is always in our minds. Stress starts within us.

Events do not cause stress but how we interpret and react to these events cause stress. In other words we can simply define stress as lack of tolerance and patience when we face unexpected circumstances with weak and negative thoughts.

Win or lose, one learns to smile at all times. It becomes a genuine smile that emerges from the heart with the understanding that the value of it can make a difference. Stress and anxiety can easily be cured through laughter. Laughter causes a sudden movement in us. It makes us shake, move and giggle; thereby it helps to relax the body and thus releases endrophins, the natural pain killers in the body.

Sigmund Freud found that laughter could release tension.
Bonnie Ruth Shaulis writes :
Laughter is a pleasant sound
It spreads joy all around
Whether you are young or old
Laughter can be like a magic
Whenever we feel sad
Laughter can sustain, things don't seem quite so bad
Laughter can be like a cure
For something that seems impossible to endure
So anytime your spirit needs a lift
Fill yourself with laughter
And you will find yourself a much happier person
With a peaceful frame of mind.
A smile can keep you away from creating a sad story.
