My beautiful country Sri Lanka

My beautiful island, my mango shaped homeland
I will gather you off the waters tenderly
So as not to break the roots, planted firmly in the sea
I will wade across the oceans to lift you up to the sky for a moment,
I will embrace you like a month old baby,
I will gently gather you unto my breasts, and close my arms over you
I will press you unto my bosom,
So you will for a moment,
Forget, scorching fires, and the whirling smoke, the barbed wires.
Held in my cool bosom; well covered and protected by my flesh,
I will lull you,
For a moment,
And if I could fed few drops of my milk
Unto you, my baby Sri Lanka
A few drops of milk, to satisfy to subdue,
All that scorching fires, the thorny wounds that you have suffered for thirty years
Oh my motherland Sri Lanka
Only if I could be a mother unto you,
To protect and cuddle you, as I would to my baby
Even if it's for a moment....

Drizzle

Sitting near the window pane
Looking out
Clouds cover,
So the sun was hidden away.
Slurping hot chocolate,
Slow rain and catching up.
Pitter Patter
Dribble, Dribble
Sploosh, Sploosh,
The note of music I hear.
Still pools on the sidewalk.
The joy overpowering me
Walked out
just wanting to clean my shoes
in all that mud.

In search of freedom...

Lost
The way
On a stubborn expedition
To explore the world,
Outside
His dark nest.
Meek and feeble still
Yet the unending curiosity
And the want to shed away the ignorance
Was too great.
Unexpectedly,
Landed in the captivity of
A dangerously curved beak,
And fiercely long nails.
The long run to freedom
Stopped abruptly
When the pleading eyes
Of a little squirrel baby
Closed
Unnoticed.

The Escape

Wreathing in pain - curling his body
He shrieked and yelled for life
His reddened eyes - bleeding chest
Spoke of his plight and fright

How could he raise his eyes to praise
The soldier treating his wounds
Better to die he felt for a while
For he couldn't bear the compassionate smile.

He fought for a land, a ruthless plan
Abetting horrified war
He killed and tortured masses for a dream
Abusing brotherhood and law

Caring hands and soothing words
Humane touch with a whole new world
Too much for him for he couldn't bear
The forgiving soldier's touching care

"Wrongly done"
He raised his head, opened his eyes
To watch the enemies once he fought
He took the hand and held it tight
To breathe his last in vain and pain

He died
Not of gunshot that pierced his chest
But of conscience that ached his breast

The pain in chest he felt no more
The change in heart would have come before

Death of Velu

He who killed many innocent lives
Perished giving sorrows to his wife
While trying to get away in an ambulance
After creating numerous turbulence

He wanted to own a great territory
But now he has to end up in the cemetery
This was Velu's deemed fate
Our armies retaliate

Goodbye demon who's dead for good
I hope you will never be born in my neighborhood!

A journey of hope

A stream of cool air gushed past,
A sudden sensation of refreshment,
In the bottom of my heart.

A painful tear rolled down my cheek,
Plenty of reasons stood behind,
For the sudden drop of tear

In isolation....
An inferiority feeling...
That no one ever wanted me....
But then,

There was a sudden string of hope...
My parents, the wonderful patch of heaven,
Miles away from me....
Realised, I will have to,
Continue my journey,
Safe of my family
