Chemanex donates Rs. 5 m to IDPs

Chemanex was one of the first corporates to donate Rs. five million to internally displaced people in the North.

Chemanex ended its 35th year on a positive note despite the turbulence and uncertainties of the global and local environment. The Company made a profit after tax of Rs. 678 million for the year ended March 31, 2009 and have paid a total dividend of Rs. 10 per share to its shareholders.

Chemanex consists of five subsidiaries and two associate companies. The Company's performance was substantially driven by its exports and therefore was focusing on producing superior products for the global market at prices that were competitive.

Apart from the export, the company has an extensive trading operation for the local market. The chemical trading operations comprise a number of departments producing chemicals for various industries.

The Company also entails in an indenting operation which had a successful year.
