First canned fish factory in Galle

The Government will set up the first canned fish factory in Akmeemana, Galle, Fisheries and Aquatic Resource Minister Felix Perera told the Sunday Observer. It would be joint venture with a New Zealand company. Approval of the Board of Investment in Sri Lanka (BOI) has been obtained to establish the factory. The agreement in this regard has been already signed with the New Zealand company.

According to Minister Perera plans are also under way to construct a canned fish factory as a joint venture with Russia and the Ministry will negotiate with a Russian delegation to set up the canned fish factory shortly.
