Sachithra, Dinindu tons prop up Tamil Union

CRICKET: Opener Sachithra Serasinghe and Dinindu Jayatilleke scored splendid centuries and put on 171 runs for the third wicket as Tamil Union piled up a formidable 300 for 8 in their first innings on the opening day of their SLC under 23 division one cricket tournament match against the SSC which commenced at the P. Saravanamuttu Oval yesterday.

Tamil Union: 300 for 8 (S. Serasinghe 120, D. Jayatilleke 102, A. Priyanjan 47, I. Udana 47, C. Gunasinghe 3 for 46) v SSC.

Malith 63

All rounder Malith Gunatilleke hit a fighting half century to help Chilaw Marians SC reach 279 runs in their first innings on the opening day of their SLC under 23 division one cricket tournament match against Sri Lanka Air Force Sports Club which commenced at Rifle Green yesterday.

Chilaw Marians SC: 279 (M. Gunatilleke 63, D. Hettiarachchi 46, M. Liyanapathirana 44, R. Karunaratne 32, R. de Silva 28, S. Jayawardena 3 for 47, Y. de Silva 3 for 89, N. Alwis 2 for 57).

Air Force SC: 17 for no loss.

Shameera top scores

All rounder Shameera Weerasinghe hit a top score of 92 with fourteen boundaries to help Moors SC reach 275 runs in their first innings on the opening day of their SLC under 23 division one cricket tournament match against Ragama CC which commenced at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Moors SC: 275 (P. Perera 26, I. Udayanga 50, C. de Silva 33, S. Weerasinghe 92, P. Hewage 33, G. Dilruk 3 for 53, M. Kumara 5 for 72)

Saracens hit back

Saracens SC after being dismissed for 161 hit back strongly to reduce NCC to 149 for 7 in their first innings on the opening day of their SLC under 23 division one cricket tournament match which commenced at Maitland Place yesterday.

Saracens SC: 161 (S. Palihakkara 54, M. Aslam 39, N. Gamage 3 for 59, E. Gangoda 2 for 10, R. Wijenayake 2 for 26).

NCC: 149 for 7 (S. Pussegolla 46, R. Mendis 43, C. Fernando 2 for 26, S. Palihakkara 2 for 27, C. Silva 2 for 29).

BRC 268

Opener Fazal Gouse hit a solid half century to help the BRC reach 268 runs in their first innings on the opening day of their SLC under 23 division one cricket tournament match against Panadura SC which commenced at Panadura yesterday.

BRC: 268 (F. Gouse 55, O. Darshana 39, A. Rabel 37, P. Perera 34, R. Gayashan 33, R. Mendis 3 for 46, C. Silva 3 for 66, D. Wickremaratne 2 for 22).

Panadura SC: 2 for no loss.

RCC in command

A fine all round performance from Umesh Karunaratne put Seeduwa Raddoluwa Cricket Club (RCC) in a commanding position on the opening day of their SLC under 23 division one cricket tournament match against Kandy YCC which commenced at the BRC grounds in Havelock Park yesterday.

Kandy YCC: 109 (A. Jayasinghe 18, U. Karunaratne 5 for 36, L. de Silva 3 for 49).

Seeduwa RCC: 202 for 6 (U. Karunaratne 53 n.o, I. Massalage 27, B. Samarawickrema 24, N. Darshana 20, S. Perera 33 n.o, K. Ekanayake 4 for 86, A. Riyal 2 for 57).
