Triplets delivered at Fertility Centre
Nawaloka Hospital PLC, a pioneer amongst private sector healthcare
providers, fulfilled the dreams of one of their patients when they
enabled the happy couple to give birth to triplets subsequent to the In
Vitro Fertilization technique performed at the Nawaloka Fertility
Centre. Consultant Gynaecologist and ART specialist from India, Dr. (Mrs)
Nanditha Thakkar, said that this was a great achievement for the
Hospital and she stressed the fact that parents who experienced problems
in starting a family, could now fulfil their dreams at the Nawaloka
Fertility Centre, without having to incur the expense of going overseas.
"The triplets, two boys and a girl, were delivered by Caesarian
section at the hospital's new Obstetrics operating theatre and are doing
well to date, over 3 months since their birth", said Dr. Thakkar.
The team responsible for this achievement included Dr Thakkar, Dr.
Vijith Vidyabushana, Consultant Gynaecologist, as well as the doctors
and staff of the Fertility Unit. "We are fully equipped to deal with all
techniques of assisted reproduction from simple IUI (Intra Uterine
Insemination) to advanced techniques of IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) +
ICSI (Intra - Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection)", said Dr. Thakkar. "We also
do blastocyst culture - an advanced embryo development in indicated
cases where there is a facility for freezing gametes - sperm and
embryos, while we have also introduced a new technique for vitrification
(Freezing of female eggs/ovums) as well".
