Tissa de Alwis calls it a day
Mr. Tissa de Alwis, Managing Director of LMRB the premier market
research consultancy in Sri Lanka, and one of the most experienced
market research professionals in the country, will be stepping down in
end July after 25 years of service in the organisation and to the market
research industry.
He joined LMRB in 1984 as a Project Director after a brief stint with
JWT, Sri Lanka. In October 1989 he was appointed as the head of LMRB,
the first Sri Lankan to be appointed to that position.
During De Alwis' very successful tenure as head of LMRB, the company
grew from a small market research consultancy to a leading knowledge
organisation offering a number of research services handled by highly
trained talent, for the benefit of multinational and local companies who
focus on the need for insights and information for building their
brands.
Today LMRB has become the norm by which other market research
consultancies in Sri Lanka are measured. It continuously keeps on
raising the bar, and the professional training and development of talent
at LMRB is such that a number of people who started off as young
researchers at LMRB now hold senior marketing positions in some leading
companies in Sri Lanka and abroad.
A graduate of The Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK), Tissa de
Alwis holds an MBA from PIM, University of Sri Jayawardenepura. He is
also a member of the Market Research Society of UK and ESOMAR. He was
elected as the President of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM)
for 95/96 and was a visiting lecturer for CIM (UK) students at SLIM for
a number of years.
De Alwis will be succeeded by Ms. Preeti Reddy as CEO, LMRB.
