Sunday Observer Fashion Designer of the Year 2009:

A prestigious event - not to be missed

The prestigious happening event the Fashion Designer of the Year 2009 will be held on October 17 at the BMICH in association with Sunday Observer and Daily News. The contest presented by the well known Fashion Designer, Chula Nanayakkara Ariyaratne is once again open to all aspiring young female and male designers. Chula has just returned from London after having presented a fashion show for the Commonwealth Countries Ladies League organised by Charmaine Jayatilleke. All outfits for this show which was held on July 23 and July 25 were designed by Chula.

If you have the talent to put your creative ideas on paper and wish to be recognised as the Fashion Designer of the Year, then this contest is just for you. Fashion conscious participants must sketch their entries for the four categories - sports wear, office wear, evening wear and saree wear. The entry coupon with all necessary details will be published in the Sunday Observer soon. So get your copy and be in touch. There is no age limit for participation. The semi-final will be held at the end of August. Ramzi Rahman will again be responsible for the hair and make-up for the models. The sportswear segment of the contest is sponsored by Mannapperuma Traders.
